Hi!

I’m officially welcoming myself back to Brooklyn, our worldly travels are over.  Thursday and Friday’s shows were tons of fun.  We played DC’s Velvet Lounge, and The Old Firestation #3.  Thanks to everyone who came out!  I loved being able to play for so many familiar faces.  We shared both shows with the quirky-cool local band, Sweet Interference, who also had two fantastic shows.  Keep your eye out, they’ll definitely be sharing more shows with us, this time on our stomping ground.

This Friday night is the last show of our Little Grey July Tour!  We’ll be playing downstairs at The National Underground at 9:30p.  (159 E Houston St. NY, NY~$10 at the door)  See you there!

Hello there,

I have to say, the highlight of St. Louis for me were the animatronic historical figures who live (and educate!) under the St. Louis Arch.  We had an awesome show this past Friday night, also in St. Lou, at The Wood.  The gents of Little Grey Girlfriend opened for themselves basically, as the Cameron Mizell Trio.  Funktastic!  They played through the entire Tributary album which was super fitting, as the album’s material was built on Cameron’s musical influences and life experience growing up in that fine city.  We were followed by Picture Day, who rocked it, and then were gypped out of an order of fries at Steak N’ Shake.  A highlight of that show was the dance routine that happened during our new song “Lovesick for the World,” including a dancer who was three days from her due date.  Dance that baby right out!

We spent Saturday in Chicago, which is a lovely place to be in the summer.  Once again we had an awesome set, this time at The Ultra Lounge in the oh-too-hip Logan Square neighborhood.  It was great to see the many familiar faces of Blooomington music school transplants.  We were followed by a band originally from Sweden, Eight Bit Tiger,  who know how to get the girls dancing.  My calve muscles still hurt… I’m not making that up.  They are offering a free download on their Bandcamp Page.  I seriously suggest you check it out.

Thanks to everyone for coming out in St. Louis and Chicago!  We’re currently back in Brooklyn for a couple of days and then will be playing at The Velvet Lounge in DC this Thursday night at 10p.

See some of you there!

Hi from St. Louis!

Our show at The Bishop last night was awesome!  Bloomington kids really know how to party.  We gave them their synth fix and then got a taste of two totally different bands, The End Times Spasm Band and The Best Friends .  I really loved both.  We were all of quite different flavors, but fit together nicely like a delicious sandwich.  People were shaking down the house to the supremely sexy, swinging and energetic hot jazz and then swaying and clapping to the next packed layers of sound on stage.  I always enjoy a shirtless acordian player.  Witty and thoughtful lyrics and songwriting all around… I had such a great time.

Three out of four of us attended Indiana University’s music school and gave the fourth (Kenneth, the poor soul) an extensive tour of the grounds.  We also enjoyed the muuuuuch lower prices of food and spirits at our old haunts (compared to the big apple, drinks are practically given away here.)

There was a lot of driving too… a… lot.  Fun times playing DJ.

Tomorrow night is another show, this time at The Wood in St. Louis.  Looking forward to it!  Thanks to everyone who came out to see us last night.  We had some awesome surprises of friends and family make the trip over!

More to come soon,
Erika Lloyd

Lovesick Album Cover

Check out our brand new single, “Lovesick for the World.”  You can download it for free at Bandcamp or buy it on iTunesThis hot new single blends the elements of LGG’s signature rocktronica style with a pop-infused melody and uplifting lyrical message.  It’s an easy listen with a great beat and a hint of  throwback to late 70s sunshine pop… perfect for those hot, lazy summer days. So, blast it from your car stereo!

Thanks for your support,
Erika Lloyd

Karen Elson - Pretty Babies

I gained so much respect and admiration for Karen Elson when I heard her live set on Sound Check WNYC.  Karen and Jack White’s divorce announcement makes me sad.  It’s not that parents have to be legally married and live together to have a happy family… I guess I just held them in my imagination as a fairytale couple, happily raising their little ones.  Regardless, I will always love their creative output as musicians.

Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill

Not only is this one of my favorite songs, and Kate one of my favorite singers and songwriters, but she’s an amazing dancer too.  I need to get a copy of her new reissue album, Director’s Cut.
